An Explanation of TW Bolt Testing Terms

The TW Bolt has an innovative and unique design. This means that anyone using them has to be aware of exactly how the dimensions of the bolts are measured, and the way in which these measurements are used during fitting.
The image above shows a pictorial representation of these measurements, with the details set out below.
If you have further questions on the fixing terms of Thin Wall Bolts please get in touch with us.
Use the contact details at the bottom of the page or click here to send us an email.
Minimum fixing thickness refers to the minimum distance which the bolt can fix. The combined thickness of the substances being fixed is used to produce this figure.
Maximum fixing thickness refers to the maximum distance which the bolt can fix. The combined thickness of the substances being fixed is used to produce this figure. Please note that extension sleeves can be utilised in order to increase the maximum fixing thickness of a standard TW bolt. Contact us for more information on this feature of the TW bolt.
The tensile strength refers to the pull-out force required for the bolt to fail when under the pressure of a tensile load.
The depth clearance is a measure of the minimum space required within a cavity wall if the legs of the TW Bolt are to effectively deploy.
Depth clearance is the minimum space needed inside a cavity wall in order for the legs on the TW bolt to be deployed effectively. This particular measurement has to be carefully noted when the TW bolt is being deployed in Steel Hollow Sections, in order to ensure that the bolt hasn’t reached the opposite section wall before the correct installation takes place.
